Event Reflection Essay Event Reflection Essay James L’Erario Event/Lecture Reflection RHA Meeting 11/10/14 Every Monday at 9:55, the Residence Hall Association for Davidson Hall meets in Davidson A on the Busch campus. I live in Davidson Hall A and I am the Davidson Hall A Representative. There are four separate halls on Davidson. To start off the meeting, we form a circle and the Davidson RHA President, Ronack, passes out a Hall Government Meeting Agenda paper slip. After everyone becomes situated and shows up, we start the meeting off with a question of the week. For this week, the question of the week was, â€Å"What would you have done differently over the past week?† We then go around the room to share each of our responses. For me, I would have started planning my essay sooner that I did. After the question of the week, we talked about what went well at our first program that we held, which was The Bonfire Bash that took place in the Davidson field. We all agreed that we had a good DJ, good food, good hot chocolate, and an overall good first event. Then w e discussed what we could have improved upon during the program. Not many had responses but the president emphasized that most people needed to be on time for their shifts and not late, as time management is key. Next, we discussed the Big Pink event that is being held soon. This is a volleyball tournament for breast cancer. Then, we discussed ideas for our next program, and we came to a consensus that we should throw a de-stressing party before finals. My job is to

A Burlesque Biography By Mark Twain English Literature Essay by Mark Twain (1835-1910) Two or three persons having at different times intimated that if I would write an autobiography they would read it when they got leisure, I yield at last to this frenzied public demand and herewith tender my history. Ours is a noble house, and stretches a long way back into antiquity. The earliest ancestor the Twains have any record of was a friend of the family by the name of Higgins. This was in the eleventh century, when our people were living in Aberdeen, county of Cork, England. Why it is that our long line has ever since borne the maternal name (except when one of them now and then took a playful refuge in an alias to avert foolishness), instead of Higgins, is a mystery which none of us has ever felt much desire to stir. It is a kind of vague, pretty romance, and we leave it alone. All the old families do that way. Arthour Twain was a man of considerable note–a solicitor on the highway in William Rufus’s time. At about the age of thirty he went to one of those fine old English places of resort called Newgate, to see about something, and never returned again. While there he died suddenly. Augustus Twain seems to have made something of a stir about the year 1160. To understand the position of women in Hinduism, we must recognize the Hindu scriptures guidelines to a woman’s position in Hindu society, but fail to address some roles of a Hindu woman specifically. This vague generalization of a woman’s role in the religious spectrum leaves open interpretation for the woman. Conflict arises when women are criticized by men, for the way they interpret the guidelines. Critically, we begin with the Hindu scriptures, because it is the heart and source of their cultural norms which can be perceived as an expression of the perceptions of the way of life. Scriptures of Hinduism hold the highest authority towards women roles and more importantly their obedience to their husbands. Laws enforced by the community; proves the husband’s absolute power over his wife. Despite the fact that the most powerful gods and goddesses of the Hindu religion are women, women in the society are expected to fill subservient roles to men. In this paper I will discuss the spiritual and cultural disconnect, answering the question why women are made to be obedient in spite of the spiritual hierarchy and why women continue to be subservient.
